Featuring robust heavy truck engineering, Scania’s 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 models are rugged enough for the most demanding off-road applications.
Every Scania all-wheel drive model features the Scania AMD901 9-tonne rated steer axle and either RP835 or RBP835 hub-reduction on the drive.
There are choices of power output from 340 to 380 hp from Scania’s 12-litre engine, and a range of gearboxes that includes an overdrive 14-speed.
The GT901 transfer case enables the disengagement of power to the steer axle, while the GTD901 provides constant all-wheel drive.
Suspension options on 4x4 models include air or multi-leaf spring. Suspension options on 6x6 and 8x8 models include all-round parabolic, parabolic on the steer and multi-leaf on the rear, or all-round multi-leaf. Extra-heavy duty frames are standard.
On 6x6 and 8x8 models with multi-leaf rear suspension, 30-tonne-rated rear axles provide generous margins of capacity to meet all requirements. Pneumatic drum brakes are standard.
Scania has adopted exhaust gas recirculation to meet the requirements of the new exhaust emission regulations that apply to all new trucks from 1 January 2008.
EGR is especially suited to all-wheel drive operations, as it does not require the use of additives - operators need just add diesel. EGR attacks emissions at their source - in the combustion chamber.
