Jan arrives ready for action
Scania Australia has welcomed its new Managing Director Jan Kilstrom, who replaced José Badia on 1 July 2008.
Jan arrived in Australia direct from two years in Head Office where he was most recently responsible for all truck products.
“Australia is one of the most challenging markets in the world, and I see that as a strength,” he says.
“From what I have heard, we have a good team in place and plenty of potential. With my recent experience from the factory side of things we’ll be well placed to work with Head Office to continue on our growth path."
After training as an engineer, Jan began his working life with a series of American-owned companies in Sweden, including an aircraft equipment manufacturer, and later as managing director of the largest transport company in Sweden.
“I know Scania very well from the customer side as I used to buy a large number of trucks from the company.”
The move from Sweden to Australia is Jan’s first overseas posting and he arrives with his wife and two small children.
“I have not lived outside Sweden before, but I have commuted a lot. I used to spend a lot of time in America, but I know that Australia is a fascinating place and I can’t wait to see more of it. I am pleased to be arriving in the ski season. I am a keen skier, cross-country and down hill, so it will be good to try out the slopes, that’s if there’s any time left for such pleasures,” he says.
