Leading by Example.
At Scania we believe that as a business we have a responsibility to minimise the impact that our activities and products have on the environment and communities in which we operate. As leaders in our industry we also encourage our suppliers, distributors and other business partners to do likewise.
We have developed a set of environmental objectives that we use to guide everything that we do: Continually improve environmental work throughout the value chain Encourage open communication and dialogue with employees and other stakeholders regarding environmental issues Educate, train, motivate and support employees, customers and suppliers to perform their activities in an eco-efficient way Include environmental aspects in transport optimisation Reduce the amount and range of materials and chemicals that are in use and strive for alternatives with less environmental impact Reduce the use of energy and strive to use required energy with less environmental impact Reduce emissions to air, water and soil. Strive for more resource efficient and clean technology Reduce the amount of generated waste and residual products. Strive for increased reuse and avoid waste disposal. Prevent and reduce consequences of accidents, abnormal operations and soil contamination.
At Scania we seek to minimise the impact of our products throughout their entire lifecycle, from the way we acquire raw materials through to the recyclability of retired trucks, buses and engines. We focus on reducing our use of energy and other resources at every stage, as well as creating vehicles and engines that balance performance with fuel economy and low exhaust emissions. Impacting on Climate Change
Climate change is an important issue for everyone, and especially for truck and engine manufacturers. We are actively working to reduce our net carbon emissions across our whole organisation. We continue to improve the fuel efficiency of our products and encourage our customers to use them in the most fuel-efficient way. Scania also welcomes the introduction of international emissions standards and has already developed trucks that comply with the stringent Euro 4 and 5 standards.
